The field of predictive maintenance has become extremely valuable in today's cost effective world. The ability to identify a developing problem and subsequently solve it before failure occurs can easily save a company thousands of dollars. The most valuable and effective method of predictive maintenance is vibration analysis. With the use of this technique, not only is detection of a developing fault in a piece of machinery possible, identification of the specific source can be identified.
By analyzing vibration data, Vibra Analysis can determine the health of rotating machinery without interfering with regular operation. This non-invasive technique, used in a predictive maintenance program, reduces costly unscheduled downtime, reduces maintenance costs, increases reliability and improves safety.Many developing troubles in machinery can be detected by the vibrations they cause. An increase in vibration is a sure sign of impending trouble. Conditions in a machine that eventually cause breakdowns and unnecessary repairs can be detected by early periodic vibration checks. 'Vibration analysis will locate the defect for your scheduled correction. Vibrations are often complex, requiring a discerning instrument that will record the amplitude and frequency of every vibration peak. This data, combined with knowledge of the machine's geometry, makes it possible to identify and correct the cause of the vibration.
Every machine vibrates in a unique pattern. This pattern is the machine's unique signature which will change as the machine loosens and wears. This signature becomes part of the machine's history log. With sufficient data acquisition the machine's deterioration can be monitored and a planned shut down can be scheduled. A signature obtained immediately after commissioning can serve as a baseline or standard. Subsequent periodic data, when compared to the baseline, will immediately show any change; thus corrective action may be taken before the problem becomes serious.
